Since we began our services in 2003, 227 immigrants have become naturalized citizens with the help of the Welcome Center. It a long, and often difficult process, especially for older immigrants and those who need to learn English. At the moment, we have a waiting list of people waiting for assistance with immigration related paperwork and cases. Our Immigration Services Coordinator is Board of Immigration Appeals accredited, and has shared some important information about the immigration and citizenship process.
Unfortunately, immigrants are a marginalized and vulnerable group who are often taken advantage. We urge that anyone interested in learning more about any immigration related issue be especially aware about which websites and businesses they are using. The best resource to learn more about the naturalization process, is the USCIS Guide to Naturalization on the USCIS website: www.uscis.gov.
In the case that the Welcome Center is not able to provide direct assistance, we will try to make referrals to appropriate organizations or individuals with the necessary resources to meet those particular immigration needs. To make an appointment to talk with a member of our staff about naturalization or other immigration services please call 215-634-1696.
